Week 6

Pretend Reading- A paraphrase or spontaneous retelling told by students as they turn the pages of a familiar story book.(Words Their Way, 6th Ed.)

Reading Stories and Singing SongsPretend reading is common when a child has heard a story several times. Students will sometimes pretend read based on the pictures in the book.  It is important for comprehension.











Memory Reading- An accurate recitation of text accompanied by fingerpoint reading. (Words Their Way, 6th Ed.)

The language experience approach is important to development because it helps develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.












Dialogic Reading-  An approach to reading aloud that is designed to stimulate oral language and dialogue while enhancing students' ability to retell stories. ( Words Their Way, 6th Ed.)

Interactive Read Aloud- A reading format to support emergent reading where the teacher reads aloud to the students and invites discussion and other participation. (Words Their Way, 6th Ed.)
